My wife, Marcia, and I made Aliyah to Israel in the spring of 2011, sight unseen, and never looked back. After discovering that I lacked the courage and athleticism required to drive in Jerusalem, I took to the streets on foot each day, rarely without a camera.
My new, fine art photo book, the Streets of Jerusalem, is a compilation of the best shots I captured on my almost-daily hikes over the last six-years. Very few images in the collection are of the city’s well-known windmills, tombs and holy places; the photos focus instead on men, women and children at work, play, or prayer, pursuing mischief or simply sitting in the sun.
Below is a video preview, with original music by Deborah Schleiber, a wonderful piece called “Zion” that seems to fit the photos perfectly.
